Koh Kred is located in Pak Kred district, Nonthaburi province, northwest of Bangkok. It is an island in the middle of Chao Phraya River, it was founded in 1722 from the Thonburi era and is the homeland of ethnic Mons on the Island after their capital was attacked by the Burmese. The island is famous for Mon-style pottery called ‘Hai’ which is still made on the island today. The islanders produce is regarded as the most beautiful of all pottery available and these are hand made. Visitors can attend demonstrations of craftsmen’s skills at the island’s earthenware museum. Although Koh Kret could very easily have become a ‘traditional way of life’ theme park, tourism to the island is limited and a result of the pottery made there. The island is also famed for its Thai desserts (‘Khanom’) and houses a number of Mon style temples. 
The island has made a name for itself by producing earthenware pots in a variety of styles. You'll find a number of kilns and shops around the island. They are, in fact, the island's main tourist attraction. You'll find most of the shops on the northeast corner of the island, which just happens to be where the ferry from the river bank docks.
Koh Kred is renowned above all as a center for Kwan Ar Marn, a style of Mon pottery, which is fundamentally just baked unglazed red clay carved with intricate patterns.
Prices for the simplest and smallest pots start from as low as 5 baht a piece, but can go up to hundreds or even thousands of baht for large ornate pieces. Particularly popular among visitors are candle and incense holders with ornate patterns of holes to let the smoke or light out, averaging around 200 baht.
Koh Kred is famous for producing very delicious Thai desserts and people come from near and far to partake of these gourmet dish.
How to get there : Probably the quickest way to get to Koh Kret is by Express Boat which goes directly to the island on Saturdays and Sundays. Getting there by car or taxi could prove a little tricky. Most people park their cars at Sanam Nua pier and take the ferry (10 Baht). You might pay 200 Baht for the round taxi trip on top of 50-60 Baht expressway fees.
